The Kenny Florian vs Gray Maynard Bout Will Win Fight of the Night at UFC 118

UFC 118: Gray Maynard On Kenny Florian, Winner To Get Next Title Shot?

Former Michigan State University star Gray Maynard is confident his wrestling will carry the day against Kenny Florian at UFC 118 this weekend.

According to UFC head honcho, Dana White, the winner of this fight is on the short list for a title shot against the winner of the Frankie Edgar vs BJ Penn rematch which headlines the card.

“Yeah, the winner of this fight should definitely get the next title shot. I mean, I got to to go in a fight-by-fight basis. Gray Maynard, who looked like he was in the line for the title, gave it to Frankie Edgar and he won the title, so you never know,” White said this week.

Maynard is the author of one of the fastest knockouts in UFC history – a 9 seconds smashing of Joe Veres – and is the only fighter to notch a win against current UFC lightweight champion Frank Edgar.

In his last action, Maynard took a split decision over Nate Diaz at UFC Fight Night 20.
